As of 2026, notifications to the Finnish Trade Register must be filed online. The change does not apply to private traders. The online filing services are the ytj.fi service in Finnish and Swedish and our online forms.

The online service at ytj.fi may ask you to select whether the company’s notifications will be submitted only online in the future or also on paper forms. Private traders can still choose to submit their notifications on paper forms. However, this selection no longer affects other company types because they must file their notifications online.

Instructions for other company types

When signing certain notifications, the online service at ytj.fi can ask you to select whether only online notifications are allowed in the future or whether notifications will be submitted both on paper forms and online.

You must make a selection in order to continue filing. You can select either option.

However, you must file your notifications online in the future irrespective of your selection.

Instructions for private traders

When signing your notification, the online service at ytj.fi will ask you to select one of the following:

  • “Vain sähköiset ilmoitukset ovat sallittuja”/“Endast e-anmälningar accepteras” if only online notifications are accepted
  • “Ilmoituksia saa vastaanottaa myös paperilomakkeina”/“Anmälningar får tas emot även på pappersblanketter” if paper notifications can also be accepted.

If you choose that your company can only file notifications online, only authorised persons will be able to file notifications with the Finnish Trade Register for your company in the future.

The selection will be confirmed after the notification has been registered.

You can change your selection the next time you file a notification with the Finnish Trade Register online at ytj.fi.

Please note that you cannot make the selection when filing free-of-charge notifications concerning changes of address and contact details or a notification of termination of a registered appointment.
